Tuscaloosa Track Club has a lot of individual members, but we also have a lot of family memberships.  Sometimes you have a husband and wife that actually enjoys running together.  TTC has been lucky enough to have a couple that has been members for many years, and they don’t even reside in Tuscaloosa.

I’d like you to meet Allen and Wanda Rowland from Jasper, Alabama.  Allen and Wanda have been married for 45 years.  They met at the University of Alabama in 1969.  Even though they reside in Jasper, they keep a tailgate apartment in Tuscaloosa, which allows them to run in many of our races, as well as volunteer for some too.

Wanda is retired from Maddox Middle School in Jasper, where she was the school librarian.  Allen has taught biology and history for 42 years at a Community College in Jasper.  Allen has also served our great country for 29 years and 4 months in Active and Reserve Army.  During 2 years of his service Allen and Wanda lived in Germany.   They travel a lot and have visited 98 countries.

Wanda has been running and racing since 1984, and has completed 2 marathons.  Allen competed in track and cross country every year in middle school and at Walker High School.  Allen began racing in the 1980, and has completed 15 marathons and a 50-mile run.  Allen has also competed in many triathlons.

Allen and Wanda are prime examples of how running a lifetime creates many memories and keeps us young.  Wanda is 67, and Allen will turn 69 in January.

Thank you Allen and Wanda for making Tuscaloosa Track Club your family, and we look forward to seeing you out at the races!!!!
